SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Southern Utah University police say a video they posted online helped them nab an 18-year-old suspected of starting a fire on campus.
The Spectrum newspaper in St. George reported Thursdaythat police got an anonymous tip after posting surveillance footage on Facebook that led them to Marshall Todd Young.
Police say that Young acknowledged being involved in the June 30 blaze on the north side of the Centrum Arena, a place he'd gone several times to smoke marijuana. Authorities say the fire caused about $2,000 worth of damage.
Young is facing an arson charge in the case. Defense attorney David Altman declined to comment Friday.
SUU is located in Cedar City, about 250 miles south of Salt Lake City.
