Chris Kaye ReportingStreet gangs are showcasing their exploits on the Internet and police are taking advantage of the information.

Gangs are not only dominating many city streets, they also have a strong presence on the information super-highway.

"There are some websites named crips.com, bloods.com and 18th Street we follow to keep up with information," says Scott Hansen Salt Lake Metro Gang Detective.

Salt Lake Metro Gang Detective Scott Hansen says gangs will post pictures and videos of themselves with guns or drugs.

"I have seen Straight Edgers beating people down. They video tape the incident and put it on their website," says Hansen, Salt Lake Metro Gang Detective.

"You cannot tell who it is, based on the video, they use nicknames making it hard to identify the members," adds Hansen.

Hansen says they monitor these sites to keep up with what the gangs are doing and the latest trends they are following.
