SALT LAKE CITY (AP)-- PacifiCorp is adopting a regional name for its utilities in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming.
The company has gone by Utah Power or Pacific Power in the three states, but beginning Monday it will use Rocky Mountain Power.
"Our new brand name reflects a new regional focus on the Intermountain West and our commitment to customers to maintain our position as a low-cost provider of safe, reliable electric service," Richard Walje, president of Rocky Mountain Power, said in a statement Tuesday.
PacifiCorp was acquired by Des Moines, Iowa-based MidAmerican Energy Holdings company in March from previous owner ScottishPower in Glasgow. At that time, the company announced it would have three business units: Pacific Power in the company's Pacific Northwest territory; Rocky Mountain Power in the company's intermountain states and PacifiCorp Energy for the company's generation and mining operations in the six states it serves -- Utah, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California and Wyoming.
