TOOELE — Three people have been arrested after an attempted robbery and stabbing, police say.
Police officers responded to a report of a robbery Sunday, according to Tooele police. A 20-year-old woman from Tooele called a friend for a ride, but after being picked up she was assaulted by two women in the van who demanded her property, police said.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. near 1000 North and Droubay Road, according to court documents.
During the assault, the victim stabbed one of the females in the chest with a pocket knife in self-defense, police said. The 20-year-old victim was released from the van and the 22-year-old woman who was stabbed was transported to an area hospital. She was later transferred to a Salt Lake City hospital in critical condition, police said.
The other people in the van, Johnnie Bear, 30, Rachel Myers, 35, and Gregory Kissinger, whose age wasn't immediately known were all booked into the Tooele County Jail in connection with robbery. The name of the 22-year-old female was not released and charges against her are pending, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be posted as details become available.
