STORRS, Conn. (AP) — The University of Connecticut Board of Trustees has approved a $1.3 billion budget for the main campus in Storrs and five regional campuses for the 2015-2016 fiscal year, including a previously approved tuition increase of 6.75 percent.
Trustees on Wednesday signed off on the budget, which will increase spending by 7.6 percent over the current budget. The board also approved $1 billion for the UConn Health Center for 2015-2016, a 6.9 percent spending increase.
UConn officials say a state aid reduction will create a $28 million deficit. The state budget approved by the General Assembly includes about $243 million for UConn — $15.7 million less than requested.
The total in-state undergraduate cost of attending UConn, including tuition, room and board, will be about $25,500 in 2015-2016, up from about $24,500.
