CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers are getting their first crack at a revised tax plan proposed by Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval that would help fund a record expansion of K-12 education initiatives. Lawmakers hold a joint committee meeting today to review the proposed "Nevada Revenue Plan" with less than two weeks to go in the legislative session.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers have approved and sent to the governor a bill expanding a program offering millions of dollars in tax credits to attract filmmakers to the state. The bill would remove a cap that limits the state to awarding $10 million over the four years of the program, and would allow the Legislature to adjust that number. It also converts the tax credits from an expiring pilot program to a permanent program.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers have approved a measure that would let voters in the tiny Nevada municipality of Ely to weigh in on possibly dissolving the city. The measure now going to Gov. Brian Sandoval would create a non-binding 2017 advisory ballot question to break up the City of Ely and instead form a town that would be governed by White Pine County.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Some B.B. King family members are getting a chance to visit the blues great one last time in private at a Las Vegas funeral home ahead of tomorrow's public viewing and a memorial on Saturday. King's daughter, Karen Williams, thinks more than 20 immediate family members will meet today at the mortuary. Williams has been fighting for control of King's wealth and property with King's longtime business agent LaVerne Toney.
