BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A Buffalo school's former financial officer admits she overpaid herself by nearly $28,000 in 2013.

Krista Schultz of Snyder faces up to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to grand larceny Tuesday in state Supreme Court.

Prosecutors say the 44-year-old was chief financial officer at the Oracle Charter School in Buffalo when she manipulated the payroll to collect an extra $27,567 over a seven-month period.

The theft was discovered after the school hired an accounting firm to help it get ready for its annual audit.

Schultz is scheduled to be sentenced September 1.
