ATLANTA (AP) — The Braves added a veteran arm to their bullpen, agreeing to a one-year contract with right-hander Nick Masset for the $507,500 major league minimum.

Masset cleared waivers Monday after Miami designated him for assignment. The 33-year-old has a 1.86 ERA and in eight games this year, but opponents are hitting .324 against him.

Atlanta's bullpen, 25th in the majors with a 4.60 ERA, used 14 relievers through its first 35 games.

Masset is 18-14 with a 3.97 ERA in 367 major league games with five teams. A shoulder injury sidelined him for the 2012-13 seasons.

He would get a $120,000 while in the minor leagues.

Atlanta designated right-hander John Cornely for assignment and optioned right-hander Cody Martin to Triple-A Gwinnett
