What's the best way to carve out a new business venture? For siblings Dino, Stephanie, John and George Pappas, it was finding a niche that wasn't being served and then working to fill it. In their case, this meant offering an expedited delivery service for roofing supplies. They formed their company, Roofers Supply, based on this business idea. Twenty-one years later they are still known for a culture of innovation and high-level of customer service.
Today, Roofers Supply is known as Utah's premier roofing supply company, with six locations throughout the state, from Logan to St. George. They have grown to include over 100 employees. All branches are integrated so they can share information to increase efficiency and better serve customers. While next-day delivery is now an industry standard, Stephanie says it remains an important focus.
They've even taken it up a notch so if a contractor forgets an item for their job, they can call Roofers Supply and within 90 minutes the item is delivered on site. This service innovation is why Roofers Supply has enjoyed such a loyal customer base and why some customers have been on board since the very start.
The Pappas siblings learned their work ethic from their dad, Steve Pappas. He operated successful construction supply and trucking businesses, and all of his children grew up working in these family-owned enterprises. Dino had worked in the roofing industry for many years and later used this knowledge to launch Roofers Supply, in partnership with his siblings John, George and Stephanie. Steve passed away shortly after the company opened, so the siblings started the Steve G Pappas scholarship to honor the memory of their dad. This $2,000 scholarship opportunity is open to all children of Utah roofing contractors, applicators or salespersons to apply for. Up to two scholarships are given out every year.
