(KSL News) After an investigation into what appeared to be a major theft at a temple construction site, South Jordan police say nothing was stolen.

Police initially believed thieves broke into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Oquirrh Mountain temple site and made off with thousands of dollars worth of tools and materials.

Now they believe the thieves were in the process of gathering what they wanted to take when they were interrupted and left without stealing anything.

When workers couldn't find their tools, as well as copper piping and wires, they called police.

Construction workers say things have been stolen at least twice in the past.
