OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Athletics first baseman Ike Davis has placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps.

Oakland made the roster move Sunday and said it was retroactive to May 14. The A's recalled outfielder Craig Gentry from Triple-A Nashville.

Gentry was removed after two at-bats from the Sounds' 7-5, 18-inning loss Saturday night. He was on Oakland's opening-day roster and hit .086 with no extra-base hits and two RBIs in 16 games before he was optioned to Nashville May 6. Gentry hit .171 with no extra-base hits and one RBI in nine games with the Sounds.
