NEW YORK (AP) — La Verdad earned another front-running victory Saturday, beating Room for Me by a half- length in the $147,000 Vagrancy Handicap for fillies and mares.

Jose Ortiz hustled the 5-year-old mare to her usual position on the lead, and La Verdad took it from there with her 12th win in 18 starts.

The 5-year-old trained by Linda Rice ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.17.

La Verdad paid $3.40 and $2.10 as the 3-5 favorite.

Room for Me returned $2.40.

Mamdooha was third followed by Sustainable and Frivolity.

There was no show wagering on the five-horse field.
