SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A high-ranking executive at Louisiana State University's health center in Shreveport is leaving to become the dean of the Howard University School of Medicine in Washington. D.C.
Howard announced Thursday that it was hiring Dr. Hugh E. Mighty, who has been vice chancellor for clinical affairs at LSU Health Shreveport since 2010. There, he's overseen the faculty medical practice plan, plus budgeting and information technology for the school's hospitals in Shreveport, Monroe and Pineville.
Mighty will oversee the academics and administration of Howard's medical school, as well as become vice president of clinical affairs there, again overseeing the faculty practice plan.
Before coming to LSU Shreveport, Mighty served 10 years as chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
