ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Adrian Beltre has hit his 400th career home run in the first inning of the Texas Rangers' game against the Cleveland Indians.

Beltre sent a 3-0 pitch from left-hander Bruce Chen onto the berm in center field Friday night for his fifth homer this season. It was the second straight homer for the Rangers after Prince Fielder also hit his fifth.

The Rangers displayed a congratulatory banner from an office balcony above center field, and Beltre went to the top step of the dugout to acknowledge a standing ovation.

The 36-year-old Beltre broke a three-way tie with Andres Galarraga and Al Kaline at 399 homers. He's the 52nd player to hit 400.

Beltre, in his 18th season, is fourth among active players behind Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols and David Ortiz.
