EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Fans often compare Odell Beckham's one-handed grabs to plays only possible in video games. Now they're handing the Giants receiver the cover of football's biggest console franchise.
The second-year wideout who gained national attention with a spectacular one-handed catch and plethora of team records in 2014 has been chosen for the cover for EA Sports' Madden 16. He is the first Giants player to make the video game's cover.
The cover shows Beckham making a one-hand catch, similar to the one he made against Dallas during the season.
Beckham beat out New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski for the honor in a fan vote conducted by EA Sports.
Some players who have graced the Madden cover have struggled the following season, spurring the fan myth of the "Madden curse."
Despite missing four games with a hamstring injury in 2014, Beckham had 91 catches for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns.
