HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Police in Hattiesburg, Mississippi have arrested three people in the shooting deaths of two officers in what started as a routine traffic stop.
Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain says two brothers, Curtis and Marvin Banks, are in custody along with a woman authorities say was behind the wheel of the vehicle that was stopped. The dead officers are identified as Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate.
The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports these are the first Hattiesburg officers to die in the line of duty in 30 years.
