VERNAL — A toddler found unconscious in a hot tub last week has died.
Bronx Young, who was 16 months old, was found unresponsive in his family's hot tub on April 28. Preliminary reports indicated that the boy somehow got into the hot tub after a family member took its cover partially off to check the water and then briefly left the area.
When family members noticed the boy wasn't in the house, they immediately went to the hot tub and found the toddler in the water, police said.
Deputies and emergency medical technicians who were called to the Vernal house, near 4000 South and 1500 West, on a report of a drowning indicated that the boy appeared to have been in the water for only a short time but was in critical condition. He was rushed to Primary Children's Hospital, where he died Saturday morning.
Police called the death a tragic accident. Family members were cooperating with an investigation.
