BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A company seeking to ramp up U.S. coal exports through two ports on the West Coast has changed its name after coming under new ownership.
Ambre Energy North America announced Monday that it changed its name to Lighthouse Resources, Inc.
It remains headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The company operates the Decker Mine in southeast Montana and the Black Butte Mine in southwest Wyoming. It's pursuing two major coal export terminals in Oregon and Washington.
Parent company Ambre Energy of Australia sold its majority ownership stake in the company last year to Resource Capital Funds of Denver, Colorado.
The faltering U.S. coal industry is counting on exports to Asia to boost its fortunes. But the West Coast port proposals have run into determined opposition from environmentalists.
