(KSL News) Next week, there will be no talking your way out of some parking tickets.
By mid-month, Salt Lake City parking officers will be issuing digital tickets equipped with photographic proof.
Instead of the computer-printed tickets, violators will receive a handwritten ticket that, along with photos and sometimes voice recordings, is linked to city computers.
Salt Lake is the first parking-enforcement agency to use the digital or "real-time tickets."
The department was looking for an alternative to hand-held computers -- the 2.5-pound devices have led to carpal-tunnel surgeries among staff members.
Plus, the system is being phased out by the manufacturer.
