WICKENBURG, Ariz. (AP) — Three people are dead after a three-vehicle crash that closed a portion of the main route between Phoenix and Las Vegas for hours.
Arizona Department of Department of Public Safety officials say a pickup truck heading south on the U.S. 93 crossed over the center line into northbound traffic Friday afternoon.
They say a semi-truck swerved to avoid a collision, but the pickup struck the trailer of the big rig and then struck a car head-on.
DPS officials say two people in the car were killed along with the driver of the pickup. A passenger in the truck was taken to a hospital.
The names of the dead haven't been released.
Both directions of U.S. 93 were closed for more than three hours about 15 miles northwest of Wickenburg.
