ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — A St. Cloud State University assistant professor has pleaded not guilty to sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in Indiana.

Justin Lee Scheidt is charged in Elkhart Superior Court with one count each of child molesting and attempted child molesting. The 37-year-old Scheidt is being held in jail in Indiana on $200,000 bail. An affidavit filed in court says Scheidt knew the girl and met her at a hotel in Goshen, Indiana in 2012. The document says the girl told police he kissed her and touched her over her clothing.

The St. Cloud Times (http://on.sctimes.com/1NGy8ae ) reports university spokesman Adam Hammer says Scheidt remains employed by the school and any consideration on his employment status is private personnel information.

Scheidt is an assistant professor of geography and planning. Defense attorney Amy Griner did not immediately return a call for comment.
