(KSL News) -- Main Street in Midway looked more like an art studio this morning. Midway is hosting the First Annual Wasatch County Plein Art Painting competition.
Rebecca Mann, Artist: "Plein art is when an artist goes out on site and paints in a very short time, and tries to do fresh, exact strokes."
This morning artists set up on Main Street and had to complete a painting in about three hours.
Some of the participants have been painting for just a few years, while others have made art their life's work.
Rebecca Mann: "I have painted and done matting and framing for 20 years in Farmington."
Yih Lin Chan, Artist: "After I retired I've been fishing and painting. Those two are my favorites."
The art will be on display today and tomorrow at Midway's City Hall.
An awards reception for the artists will be held tomorrow in conjunction with Midway's Fourth of July festivities.
