Shelley Osterloh ReportingA new concept in housing may appeal to aging baby boomers who aren't ready for assisted living but do want some extra services. Instead of renting, residents own their condo, then pick which added services they need. Developers say there is nothing like it in Utah.

Joan Libby is an active 77-year old who says she and her husband still want to own their own home, but need a place that offers more.

Joan Libby: "Looking to downsize and be on one floor and have some amenities so I don't have to go out. They are there if I need them and I have that choice."

Joan Libby made a deposit on a new condo at the Bella Vida Housing complex, which will soon be built just down the street from her daughter's North Salt Lake home at Eaglewood. It is an upscale condominium ownership for those over 55, with added services.

Lorna Koci: "I like the idea that Mom and Dad can move there and the don't have to move again. The available to services, quite frankly as a daughter, perhaps providing more care for my parents as they age, I'll have help with that and that's very comforting to me."

Workers are just about to break ground on the 120 unit facility. When Bella Vida is completed, many of the services will be part of the monthly fees, things like lawn care, exercise classes, concierge services. But much of it will be like a menu, you pay for it if you want it. That would include things like pet services, house keeping, computer assistance, handyman care and home health care delivery."

Anna-Maria Fouad , Management Partner Bella Vida At Eaglewood: "I think that they will thoroughly enjoy having a concierge at their fingertips, to make arrangements to walk your dog or run you to the doctors office or have a beautiful bistro meal delivered to you front door "

Two and three bedroom condos, each handicap accessible will run between 200 and 300- thousand dollars. The first phase of the Bella Vida at Eaglewood is expected to be completed by next spring.
