Whit Johnson reportingDavid Archuleta fans are on pins and needles: Will Utah's idol be America's idol? Tonight was part one of the two-night season finale.
It was a packed house at Murray High School, where fans gathered for an "American Idol" public viewing party in celebration of Utah's own David Archuleta.
The crowd went wild when the judges praised Archuleta tonight, saying he had an absolute "knockout" performance. Of course, this crowd is a little biased, but after tonight's performance facing off against David Cook, these fans are convinced "Archie," as they now call him, is going all the way.
Paige said, "He's an amazing singer, and he's representing Murray so good. He's going to win."
Kiera Warren said, "I mean, we're in Murray, he's from Murray. How can you not love him? He's adorable!"
Support for Archuleta can also be seen in signs decorating local businesses. One restaurant is offering to feed Archie for free for life!
But before that happens, he still has some work to do.
