PARK CITY — The Park City Mountain Resort will again host the Sprint U.S. Snowboarding and Freestyling Grand Prix and the event is open to the public.

The three-day sprint competition will include slopestyle and halfpipe events for both snowboarding and skiing, according to a Park City Mountain Resort news release. The slopestyle competitions will be held in the King’s Crown Terrain Park on Feb. 27 and the halfpipe events will be held at the 22-foot Eagle Superpipe from Feb. 28 to March 1.

The competition will include world-famous athletes including Olympic ski slopestyle gold medalist and Park City-native, Joss Christensen.

“I’m really stoked to have the Grand Prix come back to Park City this year,” Christensen said in the news release. “It was one of my favorite events from last season and I can’t wait for this year. I’ve got to try and hold it down on my home turf.”

All three days of competition are free and open to the public, with spectator access for slopestyle and halfpipe events available from the resort plaza. More than $400,000 in prize money will be awarded to the athletes during the four finals events, the news release said.

Park City Mountain Resort has hosted the U.S. Snowboarding and Freestyling Grand Prix since 2013. In 2013, Salt Lake City snowboarder and U.S. Olympian, Faye Gulini, 21, won first place in the boardercross event.
