SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Congressman Chris Cannon's primary election win should be viewed as a call for comprehensive immigration reform that focuses on more than just border control.
That's what Governor Jon Huntsman said today during his monthly KUED news conference.
Cannon won the primary race on Tuesday against political newcomer John Jacob.
The real estate developer said a guest-worker program for illegal immigrants that Cannon favors amounts to amnesty. Jacob says the country should focus solely on enforcing its borders and existing laws.
However, Huntsman said today Jacob offered little to the immigration debate aside from shoring up the country's borders, which Cannon also favors.
Also today, Huntsman said immigration reform is at the top of everyone's to-do list. He says it needs to get done and will.
