SALT LAKE CITY — The Honda Pilot stolen from the home of a Salt Lake City TV anchorwoman was recovered Tuesday, police said.
A woman stole the car Monday after entering the home of Fox 13 anchor Kerri Cronk and threatening her family with a metal pry tool, according to the Unified Police Department. Investigators said the family complied when the woman asked for keys to the car.
Someone spotted the vehicle near 7400 S. State Street Tuesday and reported it to the Sandy City Police Department, according to Unified police.
“Sandy police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and took the two occupants into custody without incident,” a statement from the Unified Police Department reads. “Detectives from the UPD responded and took custody of the occupants and the vehicle.”
Brandon Woodford, who was driving the car, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, according to police. They said the passenger was released.
The woman who stole the car has not yet been identified and should be considered armed and dangerous, investigators said.
The investigation into how Woodford allegedly came to be in possession of the car was ongoing Wednesday. Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said detectives had good leads into identifying the woman who took the vehicle.
He said investigators believe Cronk's house was targeted at random.
Last month, Woodford was charged in 3rd District Court with drug possession, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of burglary tools, according to court records. He was also charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia in two other Midvale cases.
In December, Woodford was charged with drug possession and shoplifting in three cases, according to court records. In October, he was charged with DUI and drug possession. In 2007 Woodford pleaded guilty to a drug-related charge and successfully completed court-ordered treatment, court records indicate.
