NEWCASTLE, England (AP) — Newcastle playmaker Siem de Jong has undergone surgery for a collapsed lung and will be out for eight weeks in the latest setback for the Netherlands international.
The Premier League club says Tuesday that it is similar to a complaint De Jong had in 2013 while he was playing for Dutch side Ajax.
De Jong says "after four months of hard work getting back to full fitness, it is such bad luck to suffer another setback."
De Jong joined Newcastle last summer has been out since September because of a right thigh injury.
