BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi police officials say a pair of explosions, including a suicide bombing, have killed nearly two dozen people in the capital, Baghdad. Police officials say the suicide bomber targeted a street filled with hardware stores, killing 13 people and wounding at least 30. Two improvised explosive devices in another part of Baghdad detonated 25 feet apart from one another, killing at least nine people and wounding 25.
NIAMEY, Niger (AP) — Officials say fighting in Niger (nee-ZHEHR') has killed 109 Boko Haram militants in two towns near the border with Nigeria. The troops from Niger are getting help from Chad as they work to repel Boko Haram's assault on the West African nation. Officials say four soldiers and a civilian were killed, two soldiers are missing and 17 others were wounded.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea says it has test-fired a new anti-ship cruise missile in what is seen as a demonstration of its military capabilities ahead of next month's annual U.S.-South Korean drills. Pyongyang says the drills are a rehearsal for an invasion. The North's official Korean Central News Agency says North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was on-site to observe the test.
VALHALLA, N.Y. (AP) — It's never happened before and now officials are looking closely at the third rail which snapped during a collision between and SUV and a commuter train north of New York City, with pieces piercing the vehicle and the train. The crash killed the SUV driver and five Metro North train passengers.
