BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho wildlife officials say the state has about 1,000 wolves and at least 22 breeding wolf pairs. Idaho Fish and Game biologist Jim Hayden said today that Idaho is in no danger presently of falling below 15 breeding wolf pairs and having to turn over wolf management to federal authorities.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The state-based health insurance exchange has helped slightly lower the number of cases burdening Idaho's only safety net for people who can't pay their medical bills. Bonneville County Commissioner Roger Christensen told state budget writers today that Idaho's catastrophic health insurance fund saw a small decrease in caseloads as more hospitals identify people eligible for the exchange. But, meeting the needs of the uninsured mentally ill continues to be a challenge.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho baby sitter charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 2-year-old says the Nez Perce County Prosecutor's office is stonewalling her request for additional information. The Lewiston Tribune reports 30-year-old Natasha N. Hodges is asking the court to intervene. Hodges' attorney says the toddler died of natural causes and is asking for information about her and her sibling's medical history.

BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho authorities say they are investigating the death of a Bingham County Jail inmate found hanging by a bedsheet in one of the jail's showers. Authorities say efforts to revive 35-year-old Nicholas Seamons failed after another inmate reported spotting Seamons Monday evening.
