SALT LAKE CITY — A West Valley mother accused of stabbing her two children accepted a plea deal with prosecutors Monday.
Mary Galvis, 47, of West Valley City, pleaded guilty in 3rd District Court to two reduced counts of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony. She was originally charged with two counts of attempted murder, a first-degree felony.
On Sept. 13, police were called to Galvis' home, 3427 S. 2660 West, where they found two of her children — a 12-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy — covered in blood and Galvis' husband trying to hold her on the floor.

Galvis was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of three counts of domestic violence aggravated assault."She stabbed my children," the husband told police, according to charging documents. "She was going to kill them herself."
The children were treated at Primary Children's Hospital for multiple stab wounds to the chest, thigh and knee. A teenage sister also suffered minor injuries while trying to take the knife away from her mother.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on March 23.
