EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Seth Hinrichs scored 18, and Nick Lindner had eight assists and went 8 of 8 from the free throw line — all in the final 51 seconds — to help Lafayette hold off New Jersey Institute of Technology 76-71 on Sunday.
Hinrichs added eight rebounds and four steals. Dan Trist scored 17, Joey Ptasinski added 11 and Lindner finished with 10.
A 3-pointer by Ptasinski and a layup by Hinrichs gave Lafayette (8-3) its biggest lead of the game, 61-50, with 7:25 remaining.
Two free throws by Ky Howard and a three-point play by Tim Coleman sparked an 11-2 run by NJIT (5-9), cutting its deficit to 63-61 with 2:35 to go.
Lafayette, however, made 11 of 12 free throws in the final minute to seal it.
Damon Lynn led NJIT with 24 points, but made just 7 of 24 field goals, including 4 of 18 from 3-point range.
