BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho racing officials say instant racing machines are succeeding in helping boost Idaho's declining horse industry. However, critics say the machines may be cleverly disguised illegal slot machines. Idaho Racing Commission Executive Director Frank Lamb says machines used at places like Les Bois Park rely on a pari-mutuel betting system.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A declining labor force and above average employer payrolls drove Idaho's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate below 4 percent in November. The Idaho Statesman reports it's the lowest since early 2008 and below two-tenths of a percentage point from October. A year ago, Idaho's unemployment rate was 5.7 percent.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho's first state-funded behavioral health crisis center has opened its doors. The Post Register reports that the center in Idaho Falls received $1.5 million in state funding along with grants and donations. The center will serve as a pilot program with more facilities opening around the state in the future.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State tailback Jay Ajayi says he's skipping his senior season to enter the upcoming NFL draft. The junior ranks fourth in the nation with 1,689 rushing yards. He is second to Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon with 25 rushing touchdowns. His final game as a Bronco will be in the upcoming Fiesta Bowl against Arizona.
