CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — Seattle Storm forward and former WNBA most valuable player Lauren Jackson played her first competitive match in 11 months on the weekend, admitting she was "terrible" while scoring 13 points to lead the Canberra Capitals to victory in Australia.
The 33-year-old Jackson had knee and hip operations this year which prevented her from playing for Seattle and then Australia during the September world championships.
The WNBL's Capitals, who had lost six of their last 10 games, won 73-70, with Jackson making three of nine field goals after entering the game midway through the first quarter.
Jackson, who also had five rebounds, tweeted, "I was terrible, but I'm soo happy we won."
Carrie Graf, Canberra's coach and former Australia coach, says Jackson "was extremely nervous, but she scored some vital points."
