SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Wesley Davis and Emani Gant pumped in 17 and 16 points, respectively, to lead five players in double-figure scoring and power Texas State to a 90-56 rout of its neighbor from just up the road in Austin, NAIA-Huston-Tillotson, Saturday night.
The wIn of their final non-conference game of the season allowed the Bobcats to run their record to 6-3 for their best start since the 2011-12 season.
Davis was 7 of 11 from the field and 3 of 4 from beyond the arc to lead an offense that shot an efficient 53 percent (35 of 66) and 9 of 17 (52.9 percent) from distance. Gant's 16 points came on 6 of 12 shooting and he pulled down nine boards while dishing off seven assists.
Ronzelle Fort had 19 points to lead Huston-Tillotson, converting 7 of 14 from the field. The Rams shot just 38 percent from the field (19 of 50).
