RENO, Nev. (AP) — Baggage handlers for Southwest Airlines are protesting the company's slide in on-time performance and languishing contract negotiations.
Workers plan to do informational picketing and hand out leaflets to passengers Tuesday at 16 airports across the country on Tuesday, including Reno, Denver, Dallas and Seattle.
The members of the Transport Workers Union of America's Local 555 also say they're unhappy with contract negotiations that have dragged on for over three years.
Local president Charles Cerf says the company's current leadership has devalued both workers and customers by mismanaging flight schedules. He says the company isn't raising wages in spite of big profits.
Officials with Southwest didn't immediately comment on the union's complaints.
