LAS VEGAS (AP) — Lawyers for casino giant MGM Resorts International and contractor Tutor Perini Corp. are set to tell a jury the other is to blame for flaws at a never-opened Las Vegas Strip hotel tower. Jury selection took six weeks, and trial is expected to take at least a year after opening statements today in Clark County District Court. The Harmon Hotel tower was to have been the centerpiece of the massive CityCenter complex on the Strip.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — State health officials say the first case of enterovirus D68 has been identified in Nevada. The state Division of Public and Behavioral Health says a person in Washoe County has the virus, which is associated with severe respiratory illness. Nevada is one of the last states the virus has reached. The virus is most likely to hit infants, children and teenagers.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Safety inspectors say mechanics had done work on the main rotor of a helicopter and were taking it for a test flight when the rotor came off and the chopper crashed into a building just north of Salt Lake City. The NTSB has released a brief preliminary report about the crash that killed two men on Dec. 2. The chopper was registered to Native Range Capture Services in Elko, Nevada. The company captures wildlife so researchers can tag or transport the animals.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jet-setting poker player Dan Bilzerian has been arrested in Los Angeles on a Las Vegas criminal complaint that accuses him of possessing bomb-making materials. Two felony counts against Bilzerian and another man stem from a Nov. 4 Las Vegas police investigation of a field of debris left over from an explosion in a remote desert area.
