ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- The body of a Hurricane man, who had not been seen since June 16, has been found at the bottom of a cliff in the Red Cliffs Recreation Area, the Washington County sheriff's office said.
The body of Ruben Muniz, 38, was located Wednesday afternoon by members of the county search and rescue unit.
"We are unsure of the official cause of death," said sheriff's Lt. Jake Adams. "We are awaiting results of an autopsy. This is still an ongoing investigation."
Adams said it was possible Muniz was dehydrated or suffering from heat exhaustion at the time of his death.
Muniz was last seen at his home in Hurricane on June 16. He was reported missing Monday by his family.
"His family said he likes to go out in this area and hike around, but he did not take any substantial camping or hiking gear with him before he disappeared," Adams said.
Adams said the body appeared to have been in the Red Cliffs area for several days.
There were no signs of foul play, Adams said.
