(KSL News) The Taylorsville City Council has voted to raise property taxes in order to pay for more law enforcement and other improvements.
The city's portion of property taxes will be increased 15 percent in the coming year. That's about 30 dollars more a year on a 200-thousand dollar home.
In addition, the council voted to raise taxes on natural gas, telecommunication and electrical bills.
The money will go towards the hiring of two new detectives and two traffic officers for the police department -- and 15 capital-improvement projects council members considered overdue.
