(KSL News) A chiropractor who's been convicted of sexually assaulting an employee is planning to appeal.
Today in court, the judge determined that Grant Hildreth's absence at a hearing on Friday was a misunderstanding. But Hildreth's attorney told Eyewitness News he will fight his conviction.
A jury found Grant Hildreth guilty of sexually assaulting one woman, but not guilty in three other cases. The defense argues Hildreth should have had separate trials for each accuser.
"We believe the court erred in not granting the motion for severance. And by lumping all the women together, Dr. Hildreth was convicted on two of those charges; and in my opinion, guilt by association," said defense attorney Carolyn Howard.
Grant Hildreth will be required to post $20,000 bond to remain free until he is sentenced on May 30.
