(KSL News) Heated debates at the Taylorsville City Council town meeting.
Council members wanted to discuss proposed changes to the city's budget last night. Residents had something else on their minds.
Resident: "I want answers, okay? I live in Taylorsville and I want answers. And I haven't heard any tonight."
Karen Geis, Concerned Citizen: "Maybe there was good reason for firing the chief but I can't imagine what it would be and we have been given no indication."
Several people wanted to know why the city's police chief was unexpectedly fired earlier this month. When the council declined to comment, tempers rose.
Many citizens asked the council to reconsider plans to hire new employees, and nix pay increases for city employees, including the mayor.
Resident: "They could get along with a little less of an increase, and certainly not one for the mayor. I think that the mayor knew what the salary was when he ran for office, and I don't think it was revealed to anybody that this would be his plan, to raise his own salary."
No word on whether the council plans to address resident's concerns on the firing of the police chief.
