OGDEN — A man with a violent criminal history wanted for a probation violation was arrested Tuesday night after he allegedly fired a shot at officers who were trying to arrest him.
Lorenzo Puentes, 37, was on probation for a conviction of possession of a deadly weapon with intent to assault. An arrest warrant was issued in October after he failed to comply with the conditions of his probation, according to court records.
The U.S. Marshals' Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team tracked Puentes to a home in Ogden, 1066 28th St. About 7:30 p.m., Puentes exited the residence and fired at least one shot at marshals who had gathered outside his house, Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Adams said. No one was injured and the marshals did not return fire.
Puentes ran after firing the shot. He was surrounded and captured about a block later, Adams said. When he was arrested he did not have a gun on him, she said.
