LOGAN — Utah State redshirt freshman wide receiver Hayden Weichers has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, head coach Matt Wells announced Tuesday afternoon.

The suspension came after the 20-year-old Weichers, who caught a career-high three receptions for 27 yards in the Aggies’ 35-14 win at Hawaii on Saturday, was arrested and issued a citation for soliciting a prostitute Tuesday, according to Logan City police chief Gary Jensen. The citation stems from an incident involving Weichers on Oct. 22, according to the report.

Solicitation of a prostitute is a class B misdemeanor in the state of Utah.

The 6-foot, 170-pound wide receiver who prepped at Bingham High School in South Jordan played in all nine games of the Aggies’ season, accumulating 10 passes for 84 yards. He earned Class 5A second-team all-state and Region 4 offensive MVP honors after catching 38 passes for 788 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior.

Weichers originally committed to BYU, where his father Greg played, then signed with Utah State on national signing day.

The suspension also follows Utah State’s announcement of a one-game suspension each for wide receiver/punt returner JoJo Natson and cornerback Daniel Gray, a suspension the duo served at Hawaii. It is unknown if the suspensions are related.
