SPRINGVILLE — A man who police believe was hunting illegally Saturday shot and injured a man at an industrial park.
Lt. David Caron said emergency personnel received a phone call just before 2:00 p.m. regarding a man who had been injured while he was at work near 1086 N. 450 West.
The caller told police three colleagues heard a gunshot at about 2 p.m., and one of the men — a 37-year-old military veteran who served in the Middle East — was hit in the neck by a pellet, Caron said.
Caron said the man's injury wasn't serious, and he was treated at the hospital for a flesh wound.
The witnesses said after the incident they saw a man calling his large, black dog that was running toward them, and when the dog returned, the man left in a hurry, Caron said.
Saturday marked the first day of the Pheasant Hunt in Utah, and police are reminding hunters it is illegal to discharge a firearm within city limits.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Springville police at 801-489-9421.
"At this point we just want to talk to him and find out what he was thinking," Caron said.
