Amanda Butterfield reportingOne young woman was given away in marriage in a very special way this evening. Kristen Miller married the love of her life surrounded by family and friends. Her father, who is thousands of miles away, was part of the ceremony too.
"Who gives this woman to be married to this man?" the priest asked.

"Her mother and I," replied Master Sgt. Kerry Miller, Kristen's father.
Kerry is in Iraq right now. His daughter, Kristen, and Dustin Lyon planned to get married about six months ago. Back then they thought her father would still be in the states.
"We had ideas he might head off, but we were pretty sure he was going to stay," Lyon said.

But about three weeks ago Kerry, who is with the 191st Quartermaster Company with the Army Reserve, was deployed. The deployment came so suddenly there was no way the bride and groom could change the wedding day and preparations. So, they decided he could attend the wedding and give his daughter away via Webcam.
A cardboard cutout of Kerry was at the wedding too. The family went through all this effort because Kerry is one of the most important people in Kristen's life and she didn't want to get married without her father there.
