PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — A motorcyclist is dead and a motorist was hospitalized after a crash on a Nevada state highway in Nye County.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson says the fatal crash happened a little before 2 p.m. Friday on State Route 372, a few miles west of State Route 160 in Pahrump.

Hixson says a man about 40 years old riding a Suzuki motorcycle was fatally injured when his bike hit the side of a Plymouth Scion hatchback turning left at Red Rock Drive.

The motorcyclist wasn't immediately identified. He was pronounced dead at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Hixson says the female driver of the Scion was taken as a precaution to Desert View Hospital in Pahrump.

Her name wasn't immediately made public.
