(KSL News) Two environmental groups want consumers to know more about the fish they're eating.
Great Salt Lakekeeper and Oceana are launching a campaign to urge grocery stores to post EPA mercury advisories for fish products.
Jennifer Russell-Fenus/ Great Salt Lakekeeper Board of Directors President: "Mercury is very dangerous. If it gets into your system it can cause nervous system damage, lots of different health problems."
Wild Oats is currently the only grocer in the Salt Lake area to post warnings in all of their stores.
Mercury levels vary depending on the type of fish. Shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock and catfish are all low in mercury.
Shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish contain high levels of mercury.
