(KSL News) A former Orem police officer charged with forcible sex abuse has agreed to a plea deal.
Barry Nielsen said he'll plead guilty to a reduced count of battery in an attempt to resolve his case quickly.
In November 2005, Nielsen offered a female acquaintance a ride home and the woman says he assaulted her. Despite his plans to plead guilty, Nielsen contends the actions were consensual.
The plea deal means no jail time and no fines.
Nielsen resigned in December.
