KASSON, Minn. (AP) — City and community leaders in Kasson have broken ground on a $2.4 million public library.
KTTC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1vzJMO6 ) that although tablets are increasingly replacing paper books today, the new Kasson Public Library will be about six times the size of the city's older library. Residents broke ground Wednesday on the land where the 13,600-square-foot facility will stand.
Library Director Art Tiff says the old 2,200-square-foot library didn't have room for programing, or even for many books. The new building will be used as a community shelter in case of emergency.
It's scheduled to open in the late spring of 2015.
