REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (AP) — A judge says students in a suburban Columbus school district will still have to go to school while their teachers are out on strike.
Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Michael Holbrook on Wednesday rejected a request from a parent for a temporary injunction to shut down Reynoldsburg schools because of safety concerns while teachers are on the picket lines.
The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1rLKOoY ) reports that Holbrook also ordered mediation in the labor dispute that will also include the parent who sought the legal action.
Also Wednesday, the teachers' union says it asked all members and parents to refrain from picketing at the homes and workplaces of school board members and the superintendent.
Teachers have been on strike since Sept. 19. The sticky issues include class sizes and merit-based raises.
